Clearly, my concept of transcribing my journals and slapping this book together has morphed in the last four to six weeks. As I make my way through some of what I have written through the years, I am actually struck by how much drivel there actually is. Tonight I'd like to report that I found a quote worthy of surfacing for the blog - and possibly the book. Very on target with some of the themes I seem to be exploring. Nostalgia, reminders, timelessness and being in the moment. Significance of place and situation. We'll see how this contributes in my final book, but I'll share it here now.
"Photographs from the Ende und Angfang Austellung keep coming back to me in the park. The damaged sculptures and statues, secret sections beyond the ruins. It’s as though these bits of history are more alive in the park. In the rest of Berlin, cranes crowd the landscape and all of the energy is focused towards the future. Not bad in itself, but in the Tiergarten, it could be 1930, or it could be 1996. Such is the layering of history and sacred spaces."
